Climbing Mt. Sinai

Recently I was in Egypt. One of the places we went was Mt. Sinai. This is the traditional site where Moses saw a burning bush and later received the Ten Commandments. Anyway, it is about 8000 feet tall -- climbing each step of the way -- and you have to walk several miles up a rocky trail before you...

Re: Jack LaLanne

Did Jack Lalanne and Charles Atlas ever meet, or did they ever speak of each other in some public way?

Re: September 11th

I was taking a group of senior adults on a trip to Mississippi. My wife called me and told me a plane hit one of the Twin Towers and it fell. Though she told me it fell, I couldn't comprehend it. I imagined it still standing, but extremely damaged and on fire. It was only when I got home and saw it ...

Re: Mattress

I wonder if you might be getting tired from your workout. If so, the answer is not to lesson your workout, but to increase your sleep. If your mattress is comfortable to you, the problem is probably not your mattress. Some things can interfere with sound sleep: TV, medications, caffiene, alcohol, no...

Re: Doing DT again

Well said, friend. About a year ago I started experimenting with Strongfortism and ended up with a severely injured elbow. Like you, I returned to Atlas and plan to stay with it as long as I can.

Re: Mental

Atlas says to do this when you are getting ready to go to sleep. He also says to let go of worry, gather strength for the new day, go to bed early (no later than 11:00). If you do all this you will get a better nights sleep. Muscle tissue develops while the body is at reast. So, yes, it seems to me ...

15 Disciplines of Atlas Mind

We often describe experiences we have with the Atlas physical exercises. I'm wondering how many of you have actually taken the regime Atlas defined and tried to master them. I call these the 15 Disciplines of the Atlas mind. I have memorized them and use them for good thoughts just before going to s...

Re: 100 Pushups, Etc>

Someone on this thread said that it is good to mix it up a bit when doing dips. I have recently noticed that my upper chest development was lacking, so I started doing decline dips to work the upper chest more. I was surprised that when I put my feet up on a chest instead of on the floor, I could ba...

Atlas Routine

Since I have been doing the Perpetual Lesson for quite a while now, I recently added a new dimension to it, and I thought some of you might want to try it out, so I will share it with you. I continue to do the Perpetual Lesson, but I also regularly review the exercises and lessons from the rest of t...

Re: is twice daily necessary

I'm joining this discussion late, but it is my understanding that Atlas does not call for twice a day. Its three times a day. Morning DTs, afternoon (or anytime) walk or run, and evening DTs. All three are necessary as they keep the metabolism going at a high rate.
