Frequency of exercises

Post by AlanOldstudent »

Hello,

This is my first post here.

I just bought the CD course and downloaded it. Being in my late 60s, I decided it was about time to get this course I had read about as a boy in the comics.

One of the things I noticed is that the the course advocates doing these exercises daily. As these exercises have a high component of strength and resistance training, I wonder why Atlas advocates doing that daily. I had been under the impression that one should have an every-other-day or perhaps 3-times-a-week routine for muscle-building exercises, perhaps supplementing with daily aerobic exercise such as walking.

Why does Atlas suggest doing them daily?

Regards,

Alan

it calls for twice daily but you may have to start slower . Listen to your body and see how you recouperate between workouts and you will find your answer.

HI ALANOLDSTUDENT,

WELCOME,
COMING FROM A FIGHTING BACKGROUND.

I FOUND ONE OF THE HARDEST THINGS TO STICK WITH IS "TRAIN DON'T STRAIN ". WHEN I GOT IT, THINGS WERE SO MUCH EASIER AND ENJOYABLE TO DO.

SOME OF US TRAIN TWICE DAILY AND MORE.

I'm trying to emulate the 68 year old Charles Atlas who did 50 deep knee bends, 100 situps, and 300 pushups per day. I've been doing this for about 12 days now, and it feels great so far.

I like to keep them equal, 200 each type of thing. The squat exercise in "10 steps" is worth considering, or do the knee bends slow. Another method is to do each for 10 mins, this slows you down so you don't rush though the exercises.

THAT IS GREAT BRIDGE, KEEP IT UP.

DO YOU JUST STICK TO THE THREE EXERCISES ?

Ian, I just do the three exercises along with a 2 to 4 mile walk daily, depending on what I have to do, the weather, etc. All the best to you.

Yes, I believe that Atlas still ran on the beach up until his passing.

Atlas and his instructions, and his lifestyle were and continue to be a beacon to those who aspire to great fitness and good living. I am glad that I answered that ad in a comic book a long time ago.
