Realistic

Post by Henry Marczak »

The thing that strikes me about the Dynamic Tension System is it's sensible realistic fitness method. Seems every time I look up calisthenics on the net it's always something about extreme athleticism, bodyweight exercise that many will never achieve because of it's almost like something for a competition gymnast. The Atlas method aims at the ordinary person looking to keep fit and look fit.

I second that! There's nothing I can add to it. Most folks would do well to get physically fit, let alone become a human dynamo.

I agree, Henry. Like most who enrolled in the Atlas program, I wanted to be a muscular guy like I saw in magazines. I've tried every exercise program I could get my hands on only to realize that I just wasn't genetically predisposed to great muscularity. Still, as a senior citizen I am fit and active and healthy, and I attribute much of this to my regular Atlas exercises that I began at age 27. I would caution students not to get discouraged and bogged down because they can't face doing all the exercises everyday. I have found that it helps to take a day or 2 off now and then, or cut back and do fewer exercises some days. What the Atlas program provides is a method for achieving all around strength, health and fitness. Happy New Year to all your Atlas students! Jim

I agree Jim. I tried other disciplines like qigong and a famous wrestlers high intensity yoga but the Atlas program provides what i need. i feel great doing it, it does not bother my respiratory issues, its retro goodness. Additionally, the common sense of it all, train don't strain, realistic nutrition advise that considering how long ago this was given by Mr. Atlas most if it still holds up perfectly. Great stuff more people should know about. Old school works ala Charles Atlas. :D

Bravo...yes i have realistic expectations. Not looking to be big like atlas but fit and healthy. Guess what its happening...that with sound nutrition, none of the fear mongering, pseudo science nonsense but sound nutrition. Organic in Atlas' day meant fruit and veg and as close to original state as possible. Looking for more encouragement, but i am coming along. hope to hear from old and new students ailke.

We want a realistic build anyways. I think an Atlas build is still attainable for a 52 year old man. Maybe not all of them. But it don't hurt to try. You'll at least get fit. And that's more important anyway.
